1 out of 5 stars Steam.....   August 22, 2010
Mr. Clayton E. Ayers (London)

Sega have committed a big NO NO in their tie in with Steam. There website is slow, maybe because it is steam powered. 75 pct of the time no connection is available. The game itself is superb but only if played locally. If you make the mistake of removing the disk from your pc you'll have to go throught the whole performance of re-registering with the pilling
cxxx that is steam.

In conclusion don't waste your money..

1 out of 5 stars Steam - oh no!   August 22, 2010
Mr. S. Cook (UK)
Having bought ALL total was games up to now from the Shigu era, I'm deeply disappointed with Steam. As of now I can't play the game because the servers are down. You MUST have an internet connection and the servers need to be up to let you play the game. What utter rubbish. If future games from the series are released on Steam, then this is one luyal customer who will be buying the total war series no more.

4 out of 5 stars napoleon total war reveiw   August 1, 2010
Napoleon total war is the ultimate strategy war game I have played. You can have full control over your troops like what you want them to fire at, what formation, if you want them to withdraw from the battle or if you want them to melee attack the enemy, which happens alot in this game. You can also go on sea which is even harder than land battles. You can play as the french on campiagns but you can also play as the coalition on campaigns of the coalition when you can play as britian, prussia, russia, or austria.
The only bad part is when you have finished the campaigns and you don't know what to do and you get a bit bored but then you have other things like playing online with steam or play real napoleon battles like the battle of waterloo and the battle of trafalger or you can just play battle where you can choose the battle feild and what side you are playing as and what side the pc is.

Overall this game is worth the buy.

1 out of 5 stars Games great....when it runs   July 1, 2010

I bought Napoleon TW downloaded it from the infamous STEAM (btw you can download the game from disc, see end note) and played the game for two weeks (great fun) until they downloaded an 'update' (which I prefer to call a virus) now the game fails to start, at all. So I tried the many fixes which didn't work and found Steam Support aren't much good (the Forums do supply more help)...the two weeks of play were great but if I knew how much hassle and dissapointment was to ensue I would never have bought the game. I also waited many years for a remake of Shogan (Shogan II's a coming) but now I'm not sure I want to buy that as long as it's connected to STEAM.

Using Steam launch options to install retail games from disc
1.Log in to Steam and click on Library.
2.Right-click on the game, select Delete local content, and confirm.
3.Insert the first disc into your computer.
4.Close Steam (Steam > Exit).
5.Press Windows Key + R to open Run
6.In the Run window type:

"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E:

Replace E: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from if is not correct.
Replace C:\Program Files\Steam if your Steam installation is not in the default location.
7.Press OK. Steam will launch and ask you to sign in if you do not have your password saved. Your installation should continue from the disc.
