3 out of 5 stars Tad Dissapointed   March 11, 2010

Multiplayer....

Takes an age to connect at times, and when it does it mostly disconnects. No-prone is a big downer for me, gods knows who made that decision. Everything seems to be chaotic in mutiplayer, when will companys actually release a game that lives up to the PR?

Now i'm awaiting medalofhonor......hopefully will beat mw2 and this. It truely makes you wonder who are the testers for these sort of games, perhaps they are too close to the company to really tell them what they think.

singleplayer..... not finished as yet, sorry to say i got bored after 20min.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing game   March 11, 2010

Brilliant, dont let the 1 star ratings put you off, there just the ubergamers who need to play 24hours a day or they get pissed off.

Amazing multiplayer action, graphics are great and the sound is brilliant :)

4 out of 5 stars Not quite battlefield   March 11, 2010

Unfortunatly I haven't had enough time to complete the singleplayer and ignoring minor bugs is a nice change to the previous bf singleplayer parts for the pc titles with humour as well as a 'jab' at cod I found very humourous even though I'm a (semi-) happy owner of that game also.

I do find the online play quite different from previous titles and miss the ability to go prone and to fully rotate (barrel roll) in helicopters allthough do think the removal of airplanes is not that bad an idea bit significantly changes the game as bf has it larger maps with vehichles as it has been previously now seem somewhat reduced in size. The takeing more bullets to kill people more often than not compared to games like cod gives great nostalgia for all the previous battlefield games I have played.

The graphics are nice and an update to the still popular previous titles all of which I have purchased since the origional and enjoyed .the destructible environments give a much more warzone feel to the game which I enjoy significantly along with the sound effects of near explosives. The only thing holding the game back is the small bugs most of which I expect to be patched out.

To summarise, a new take on the origional pc title with a new coat of paint being held back by minor bugs which should have been sorted before release.

2 out of 5 stars Maps are too small and cluttered   March 10, 2010

Hello.

I won't repeat what other people have said about the bugs and server crashes. ( I've had problems )

I will say this: If you're buying this game because you like Battlefield 2, i would refrain for now. The maps In this game are SMALL compared to most of the maps in BF2 and they are cluttered with buildings and other objects. Not at all like Bf2. For example there Isn't enough room for long range tank battles or air fighting.

I hope they make some better maps and I will try again.

Watch youtube gameplay and decide for yourself.

3 out of 5 stars Unreliable. Great when it works!   March 10, 2010
Mr. C. Kay (Scotland, UK)
I had this game on preorder for months and got it on March 4th. It installed in about 4-5min and automatically had to retrieve a several hundred megabyte update which was actually a bit reassuring - a '0-day' update presumably aimed at plugging some bugs. Since installing it I have had good fun with it... When it works, that is. Several times i've been playing well, within top 3 players, then all of a sudden i lose connection to 'EA master server' along with everyone else in the server. I have friends who play too and they have been able to play for a total of 10min since release day - apparently EA are aware of this issue that "some players" are experiencing.

When you buy a game and all your computer hardware exceeds required specifications you expect it to work. They are not allowed a refund (not bought from Amazon) as the cd key was used, so right now they have a broken game they cant play online (the main reason most people buy these games) and knowing EA's past support history for Battlefield games, i dont hold high hopes for these connection issues being solved anytime soon.

Enough about it's problems though... When the game works it is very fun. Each class (medic, recon, assault, engineer) have their own unlockable guns, specialisations and equipment so it looks like theres a nice longevity for the multiplayer and it effectively makes you want to try each class out rather than just stick with the same one all the time. In saying that though, there is usually a frustratingly high number of snipers in every round which means you cannot work properly as a squad and sometimes directly leads to losing the match because of it.

There are only 4 game modes and 10 maps though... This is one of my biggest gripes as it can tend to get a bit boring quite quickly.

Long story short, i have played this game on and off for nearly a week and it is a lot of fun. I am worried about EA's lack of support or pace in trying to fix the many bugs and the sever connection issues which many face. I would like to see more
maps and game modes added in the future but unsure how likely this will be. Previous games in the franchise have had 1 or 2 new maps in the 4+ years they have been out.

I give the fun rating of the game 5/5 when it works. Due to the many bugs and gripes i have found with the game though, an overall 3/5 is all i can stretch to.
