Fun, Easy; Have a Few Suggestions March 15, 2010 E. Thomson Overall, very fun and easy to use. I suggest buying the following items though.
1) an extension USB cord
2) better carrying case than what it comes with
3) the AC adapter as it takes me about 2 hours for it to charge on my computer
4) the videos are in mp4 format, so you might need to buy a converter software; I did for about $29.
Terrible customer service March 13, 2010 M. Russell (Vancouver, WA) I am assuming that I got a lemon Flip Ultra HD for Christmas in 2009. My unit seems to record OK but will not play back the video after about 5 seconds of viewing either on the Flip or the computer. The audio is OK but no video. I have contacted the customer service email and received one response, I followed their directions, immediately replied to them and haven't heard from the company since. Now I'm stuck with a piece of junk and can't record my grandkids. I am VERY unhappy with their product and especially their customer service. If they do resolve this problem I will update this review.
Video on the go that is both easy and fun! March 13, 2010 Napauli Paul (Kauai) Pros: High quality picture, good sound quality; easy to operate and download videos to your computer; larger viewing screen than most of its type; good low-light videos; much better video quality than most phone or popular-priced digital camera video; best of its camcorder type; compact and light so you have the potential of making videos everywhere you go.
Cons: Lack of image stabilization can make for shaky picture without a tripod, especially with the way the camera is held by your hand; control operations not easy to see in sunlight; delete video button does not alway respond in the same way because of the way finger pressure has to be applied; highest priced in its class but lower price is available on the Internet, which at the time was at Amazon.com.
Junk. March 13, 2010 R. Samuels (Valencia, California) I just bought this camera two weeks ago. It's been working fine; I was very happy.
Yesterday, after shooting several clips, the camera stopped responding. I could turn the camera on and off, but no other controls would respond: I couldn't record, play, delete or zoom. I could also access the footage I had already shot using the Flipshare program, and download the footage off the system - but that's all.
I spoke to customer service, who told me that I would have to remove the battery and wait two days for a full reset. I was also told that I shouldn't use my Mac to recharge the camera, and that I should plug it into a PC-based machine - I had to tell her three times before she would understand that I owned the accessory AC adaptor. Still, I now have to wait two days for the camera to reset, and then overnight for the battery to charge - just to see if the camera will work. The customer service rep seemed completely unqualified.
I bought this camera for a particular event; now I have to scramble to find something else to use. Very, very disappointed.
Save your money for something better. March 11, 2010 ME 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product is not worth over $150 dollars, if you like good quality footage, then this product is not for you. I bought mine and returned it after a few days... If you don't care about image stabilization, then the shaky footage won't bother you... it's not worth $150 dollars though. I was not looking for a high quality product for a low price...just something average, but the shaky image is too much. You need to use a tripod all of the time!
