Canon BP-808 battery March 10, 2010 J. McClaskey So far so good. It seems they only last for about one year. Really bummed about the cost. Makes the video camera even more expensive you have have to spend between 50 and 100 a year for the battery.
Beware of aftermarket batteries for Canon FS January 21, 2010 John Ferree (Central NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased a Canon FS 200 which came with a Canon BP-808 battery. At the time of purchase, I also bought two after-market spare batteries (labled "CTA Canon DB-BP808) with charger and two 16 GB flash cards. The Canon battery communicates with the camera so you always know how much recording time you have left. That's a useful feature but not an absolutely necessary one. The real problem with the aftermarket batteries is that, every time I turn the camera on, I get a pop-up message telling me that the camera cannot communicate with the battery and asking if I want to use the battery that is in the camera. That means, every time I turn on the camera, I have to push the toggle right (to choose "yes") and depress the toggle switch to select "yes" - two extra steps to complicate what should be a simple start up. Especially cumbersome when wearing gloves. I recommend the real Canon batteries.
Battery is dead October 10, 2009 David Bilby I ordered this battery, went right to Europe for a month and when we got there the battery didn't work at all. The battery won't even charge or hold a charge. I'm hoping that the seller will give me a new battery. I'm hoping that this will help me find the right person to talk to about this.
Great spare battery September 18, 2009 Bao Nguyen (California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Works just like the OEM battery that came with my Vixia HG20 HD cam. Having the ability for the camera to "talk" to the battery to provide battery information and capacity status is important for me. However, this is pricier than the basic non-OEM battery.
The only thing I did not like about the BP-808 is that it is thinner than the OEM BP-807 so when installed on the cam, it is not flushed with the cam body and doesn't look as slick.
Wonderful Buyer!!! August 13, 2009 Julie Crown (SLC, UT) This seller is awesome. I bought a battery when it came it was DOA. They had me send it back to them and they sent out a new battery. The new battery works great and I couldn't be more happy with the service I received from this buyer. Not to mention my battery works great!!!
